The Unwelcome Guest

Many of us know the frustration of a houseguest who overstays their welcome. You hint that it’s time to leave, but they simply refuse to pack their bags. In our spiritual lives, we harbor a far more dangerous squatter. The Apostle Paul knew this intruder well, describing a bitter, daily struggle within his own heart in Romans 7. No matter how much we desire to live perfectly for our Savior, an unwelcome guest—our sinful nature—stubbornly remains, tracking the mud of temptation and failure into our daily lives. As we gather for worship today, we bring the exhaustion of this internal battle before the Lord. Prepare your hearts to hear how God addresses this unwelcome guest, and rejoice in the deliverance found only in Christ!
