Forgetfulness is part of our human nature. We forget where we placed our keys, we forget important dates, and—far too often—we forget the wondrous works of God. But our Lord does not leave us in our forgetfulness. Throughout history, He has acted to ensure His mighty deeds are remembered, especially His greatest work: the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This Lenten season calls us to pause, reflect, and remember. Through His Word and Sacraments, God continually brings His grace before us, reminding us that, even when we forget Him, He never forgets us. Today, we gather to hear and proclaim His faithfulness, trusting in the One who is “gracious and full of compassion” (Psalm 111:4).
