Gaining by Losing
Our minds are often occupied with the calculations of our daily lives. We weigh costs, make sacrifices, and invest our energy and affection in the people and priorities we hold most dear. We build our sense of security on the foundations of family, work, and our own well-being. But the call of Christ cuts through all of this, demanding a loyalty so absolute it can seem to turn our world upside down. It is a call that, on its own, would leave us speechless and condemned. Here, in God’s house, we come to find rest from such impossible demands—not by ignoring them, but by marveling at the One who met them completely for us.
